Police are investigating a fatal bus accident on the New Jersey Turnpike that occurred around 9pm on Monday night. According to an AP article posted on APP.com, the luxury bus was on its way from New York City’s Chinatown to Philadelphia when it appears to have traveled into a grassy median before hitting an overpass support and then an embankment.
The bus accident killed the driver, Wei Wang, a 50-year-old Taiwanese national when he was thrown through the windshield and passenger Troy Nguyen, 20, of Royserford, Pa., who died after being transported to a hospital in New Brunswick.
Police believe the privately chartered bus had about 45 passengers. About 40 of those passengers were taken to area hospitals and two remain in critical condition.
This fatal bus accident comes just two days after another bus accident, which killed 15 people when it was traveling from a casino in Connecticut to New York City’s Chinatown. The cause of Monday’s fatal bus accident has yet to be determined, but the bus has been moved to an impound lot where police will inspect the bus and remove available data from electronic devices.
